The Metal Control Association was founded in 1990 by ten women, involved in aluminum logistics, who had done business with each other for some length of time but had never all met. They decided to organize a meeting in New York City to give themselves, and others in a similar capacity, the opportunity to get together to discuss common issues and to finally be able to put faces together with voices on the telephone.
From that meeting, the Metal Control Association has grown into an incorporated, non-profit organization that remains dedicated to its original goal of providing a venue where dedicated men and women, involved in the logistical functions of aluminum and other non-ferrous metals, can get together to discuss matters of mutual concern to the metals industry. Meeting annually in cities throughout the United States and Canada, the Metal Control Association Conference consists of tours, seminars, and membership meetings. In attendance are representatives from non-ferrous metal producers, consumers and traders, as well as supporting industries, such as ocean, rail, truck, barge, warehouse, and customs concerns.
